Abstract/Citation: | The object of this Regulation made under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance (Cap. 59) is to protect the hearing of employees who are exposed or likely to be exposed to hazardous noise levels while at work in an industrial undertaking by requiring that a competent person make a noise assessment to identify employees who are likely to be exposed to hazardous noise levels; employees are provided with suitable approved ear protectors; exposure of employees to noise is reduced to a safe level; and adequate information, instruction and training on ear protection is provided to each employee. This Regulation also repeals the current more limited provisions respecting sound protection in the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Regulations (Cap. 59 sub. leg.). |
