This Act consolidates for Northern Ireland certain enactments relating to the administration of social security and related matters, with corrections and minor improvements under the Consolidation of Enactments (Procedure) Act 1949. It is comprised of 168 sections and divided into 15 Parts. Part I concerns claims for, payments, and general administration of benefits; Part II deals with adjudication; Part III governs overpayments and adjustments of benefit; Part IV provides for recovery from compensation payments; Part V relates to income support and the duty to maintain; Part VI contains enforcement provisions; Part VII concerns provision of information; Part VIII provides arrangements for housing benefit; Part IX deals with alteration of contributions and benefits; Part X details computation of benefits; Part XI concerns finance; Part XII deals with advisory bodies and the duty to consult; Part XIII governs arrangements with social security systems outside Northern Ireland; and Parts XIV and XV cover miscellaneous matters.
