Overview of laws, policies and practices on gender-based violence and harassment in the world of work in Bangladesh

This publication presents the findings of a study that examines Bangladesh’s legal and policy framework to address gender-based violence and harassment, including sexual harassment, in the world of work.

The study was commissioned by the ILO to provide an overview of progress made, identify key gaps, and pinpoint areas where action is needed to strengthen Bangladesh’s national framework for preventing and addressing gender-based violence and harassment. The study reviews laws, policies and practices in Bangladesh that are relevant to gender-based violence, including sexual harassment. While the country has made progress in addressing these issues through legislation and normative frameworks, they remain a significant concern for women, particularly, at work. Based on its findings, the study proposes recommendations to strengthen Bangladesh’s legal and policy framework on gender-based violence and harassment in the world of work.
