ILO Budapest Newsletter 2021 September

This issue reports on ILO response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Central and Eastern European region. It introduces programme results and new projects, and features fresh publications and new staff. Videos with the Director and Technical Specialists of the Office guide viewers on what the ILO did to mitigate the pandemic crisis, and on the services it can offer.

NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

The top news item is new ILO alliance with the European Commission and the European Training Foundation for rolling out youth guarantees in the Western Balkans. Another good development was the signing of a new agreement with the UK Government for Montenegro to facilitate a job-rich recovery for the country. The ILO had discussions with the Government of Serbia on how the ILO could be helpful in advancing the EU accession negotiations of the country on employment and social policies.

The ILO, together with the Ministry of Education, with support from the US Department of Labor organized a campaign in the schools of Kosovo to raise awareness about child labour.

The ILO intervention will support entrepreneurship in a high-value-added sector, and contribute to the promotion of the green economy.

World of Work in Montenegro: Paving the road to recovery

The project, supported by the UK Good Governence Fund, will support the job-rich recovery of Montenegro, a country particularly hard-hit by the pandemic.
