The enabling environment for sustainable enterprises in North Macedonia

The findings and recommendations from the report provide a comprehensive overview on the progress made by the Republic of North Macedonia over the past few years to improve its enabling environment for private sector development.

The report revisits the study commissioned back in 2013 by the ILO assessing the progress made since and the prevailing constraints that still inhibit the private sector.

The study focuses on five key areas identified as priorities for companies in North Macedonia. It provides an analysis of their current status and makes recommendations for further reform of policies and programs. The key areas are:

• Enabling legal and regulatory environment
• Rule of law and secure property rights
• Access to financial services
• Fair competition
• Entrepreneurial culture
