  1. 10th high-level meeting between the ILO and the European Commission

    4 - 5 December 2012

    For the 10th time in a row, and in the presence of the ILO Director-General Guy Ryder, the ILO Office and the European Commission (EC) held their annual high-level meeting defining the focus of their cooperation for the next year. The ILO Office and the EC reaffirmed their mutual partnership and defined fields and areas of common action in 2013.

  2. Interregional conference: "Improving social protection and promoting employment. Experiences and lessons learned from an ILO-EU project in Burkina Faso, Honduras and Cambodia"

    3 - 4 December 2012

    A conference will be organized to explore the experiences and lessons learned from the joint ILO/EU project "Improving social protection and promoting employment", implemented between 2009 and 2012 in Burkina Faso, Cambodia and Honduras. This interregional conference will be jointly organized by the European Commission and the ILO.

    Lunchtime conference organized by the European Commission's External cooperation Information portal, presenting the European Commission/ ILO joint project "Improving safety and health at work through a Decent Work Agenda", implemented in five pilot countries: Honduras, Malawi, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Zambia.

  2. Global South-South Development Forum 2012

    19 - 23 November 2012

    The 2012 Global South-South Development Expo in Vienna (Austria) placed the spotlight on Energy and Climate Change. The ILO Solution Forum on Energy, Climate Change and Decent Work (20 November) covered inclusive access to decent work, follow-up to Rio+20, green jobs, social protection and the promotion of workers’ rights in the field of renewable energy and climate change.

    The ILO and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) will organize a joint event in the European Parliament in Brussels to discuss the future of green jobs in the context of the Rio+20 outcomes.

    The Belgian Association for Labour Law is organizing a study day on the EU’s economic governance, its effects on labor law and social dialogue and its impact on the European social model. The ILO-Brussels will participate as a speaker.

  2. ILO at the 'Jobs for Europe' conference

    6 - 7 September 2012

    The European Commission organized on 6 and 7 September 2012 a major employment policy conference in Brussels. The ILO Director General elect called for an "immediate and urgent change of policy in the EU"

  3. Workshop on gender equality for development effectiveness

    3 September - 7 July 2012

    The ILO’s International Training Centre is launching a new course on gender equality for development effectiveness from 3 until 7 September in Turin.

  1. Launch of new forced labour estimate for the EU-27

    10 July 2012

    The ILO launches on 10 July 2012 its new estimate of forced labour in the EU-27. The ILO estimate covers thousands of cases of forced labour and human trafficking reported over the period 2002-2011.
