Conference: 'Refugees’ integration in the EU labour markets'

On 18 November, the International Labour Organization will host a Conference which addresses the opportunities and challenges related to the integration of refugees into the EU labour markets.

The EU is currently facing the biggest refugee crisis since World War II. At the same time, population ageing results in a shrinking workforce and labour markets suffer from chronic skill shortages and mismatches. An early integration of refugees into the EU labour markets is an essential precondition for their successful inclusion in society and can help address current and future labour market needs. It would also significantly reduce pressure on public finances. But a swift labour market integration of refugees poses serious challenges for public authorities, not least in terms of financial and human resources.

On 18 November 2015 from 16.30 to 19.30, the International Labour Organization is hosting a Conference which addresses these challenges and opportunities from both a policy and a practical perspective. Save the date and join us for two stimulating debates between experts from the European Parliament, the European Commission, the UN and the ILO, as well as social partners and public employment services.

There will be ample opportunity for comments, questions and an exchange of experiences following the panel discussions.
