Delegation Port of Durban on study trip to Flanders/the Netherlands for ILO project “Promotion of Decent Work in the South African Transport Sector”

From 3 to 8 February 2012, the Social and Economic Council of Flanders (SERV) is hosting a delegation of the social partners of the South African Port of Durban for a study trip to different ports in Flanders and the Netherlands. The study trip to the Netherlands is hosted by the Dutch trade union FNV. It feeds into the ILO project “Promotion of Decent Work in the South African Transport Sector” co-funded by the Flemish and Dutch governments.

The project aims at boosting competitiveness in the transport sector through encouraging social dialogue, workplace improvement and skills training in the South-African Ports of Durban and Richards Bay. The project started in January 2011. On the agenda of this study trip are meetings of the South-African delegation with the trade unions and the employers’ organizations in the Ports of Antwerp, Ghent and Rotterdam.
