    Building Social Protection Floors with the ILO - Social Protection Study Tour to Algeria

    With the assistance of the ILO within the framework of the South-South and Triangular Cooperation, a study tour was arranged in December 2017 for members of the Palestinian Social Security Corporation (PSSC) to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (MTESS) in Algeria as part of a strategic plan to develop the necessary knowledge and skills of the Board of Directors and key managers of the PSSC to be able to effectively implement the new Palestinian social security law and its social security schemes.

    Migrant workers in an irregular situation through no fault of their own: pathways and response options in the Arab States

    A migrant in an irregular situation or an undocumented migrant is someone who is not authorized to enter, stay or work in the country of destination. There are many pathways to an irregular situation in the Arab States, and migrants often have little control over the complex factors that determine their migration status. This short note on migrants in an irregular situation describes some of the common means through which migrant workers may end up in an irregular situation and proposes recommendations for governments in addressing this important issue.

    Financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the ILO has conducted a study which aims to provide practical solutions to three potentially conflicting policy aims in Jordan’s labour market: boosting Jordanian employment, ensuring decent working conditions for all including migrant workers, and incorporating Syrian refugees into the workforce.
