50 for freedom campaign

Sign up to end modern slavery

One year after the adoption of the Protocol to the Forced Labour Convention, 1930 (No. 29) and accompanying Recommendation, the 104th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) presents a timely opportunity to engage with and garner the support of ILC delegates for a global campaign to end modern slavery.

In the run up to the launch of the 50 for Freedom campaign to end modern slavery, ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder, was joined by delegates to the International Labour Conference, in signing a symbolic signature panel.

High-level guests, delegates, staff and visitors are invited to show their support by signing a panel installed in the Palais des Nations throughout the ILC. On the World Day Against Child Labour (12 June), the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Kailash Satyarthi, will unveil the panel and launch the “50 for Freedom” campaign. This campaign aims at promoting ratification and implementation of the Forced Labour Protocol, with the first 50 Member States ratifying it by 2018. Global mobilization efforts will then be continued on the platform 50forfreedom.org and with the hashtag #50FF.
