Syrian refugee host community employment agencies in Jordan develop career guidance capacity

Employment agencies and school-based counselors in Jordan receive ILO training on enhanced career guidance methods and practices.

In collaboration with the ILO International Training Centre in Turin, the ILO in Jordan will conduct a one-week training workshop on methods to enhance career guidance services in Jordanian communities hosting Syrian refugees. The training sessions will bring together representatives from public and private employment agencies, as well as schools and vocational training centers from Amman and the northern governorates of Mafraq and Irbid.

Participants will be trained on methods to improve career guidance which:
  • Assess the needs, approach and models of career guidance at national and local levels;
  • plan for the establishment or improvement of career guidance services in different settings;
  • shape career guidance services according to a range of contextual cultural and social factors;
  • plan career guidance service implementation; and
  • bolster career guidance staff’s capacity based on international standards.
The workshop is part of the ILO project entitled Enhancing access to employment opportunities and livelihoods in host communities, which aims to support the development and livelihoods of communities affected by the Syrian refugee crisis.
