A national tripartite workshop on “International Labour Standards Reporting” will convene in Kuwait from 3-5 March 2013 under the patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour HE Ms Thikra al-Rashidi and in collaboration with the International Labour Organization.

Participants include representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, the Kuwait Trade Union Federation, the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Interior.

Speakers will include Minister of Social Affairs and Labour HE Ms Thikra al-Rashidi, ILO Regional Director for the Arab States Ms Nada al-Nashif and ILO Senior International and Labour Law Specialist Mr Joachim Grimsmann.

Kuwait is due to report to the Committee of Experts on its application of the following Conventions in 2013:

• C001 – Hours of Work (Industry) Convention, 1919 (No. 1)
• C030 – Hours of Work (Commerce and Offices) Convention, 1930 (No. 30)
• C052 – Holidays with Pay Convention, 1936 (No. 52)
• C089 – Nigh Work (Women) Convention (Revised), 1948 (No. 89)
• C106 – Weekly Rest (Commerce and Offices) Convention, 1957 (No. 106)
• C111 – Discrimination (Employment and Occupation) Convention, 1958 (No. 111)
• C117 – Social Policy (Basic Aims and Standards) Convention, 1962 (No. 117)
