    ILO to release new child labour estimates

    A report containing the latest global and regional estimates of child labour will be launched in Bangkok on Monday 23 September 2013 by the ILO. The report, "Marking progress against child labour: Global estimates and trends 2000-2012", provides the most recent and wide-ranging assessment currently available on the extent of child labour, trends, and the measures need to make progress towards ending it.

    Apprenticeships for youth employment

    17 September 2013, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    Informal apprenticeships are an effective way to ensure youth employment and empowerment, high-level officials from the ILO, BRAC and the Ministry of Primary & Mass Education stated this week. The comments were made after almost 1,000 learners from UNICEF’s Basic Education for Hard to Reach Urban Working Children (BETRUWC) programme successfully completed a six-month BRAC & ILO skill training programme and have just started work in the informal economy.

    Good Labour Practices programme for addressing child labour and forced labour in Thai fisheries industry launched

    A Good Labour Practices (GLP) programme, a major labour protection initiative for the seafood industry in Thailand was launched today on 16th of September 2013 at the Rama Gardens Hotel Convention Hall, Bangkok, Thailand. The initiative is supported by the International Labour Organization (ILO) through its International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC).
