    The Government of Punjab restated its commitment to fast track the existing labour inspection reform process. Workers and Employers highlighted ILO’s role in expanding the coverage of labour legislation to the informal sector including domestic workers, home based workers and agriculture workers.

    Award Winning Actress Joins ILO to Boost Young People's Awareness

    COLOMBO (ILO News) - The International Labour Organization (ILO) on September 5 and 10 2015, supported two Career and Entrepreneur Job fairs by way of sponsoring and endorsement. EDEX Mid-year Expo held in Colombo, attracted over ten thousands young visitors. The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce ‘Careerlead’ was organised at the Rajarata University in the Anuradhapura district, attracting over four thousand students from several districts in the north and east. Overall, both job fairs gathered the participation of over one hundred reputed companies across a number of sectors. Students and youth were offered the opportunity to receive actual career guidance while being presented with direct recruitment opportunities and with information on ILO’s activities, notably those related with labour rights and responsibilities for youth in the workplace.

    Lao People’s Democratic Republic considers ratifying ILO Labour Inspection Convention

    The one-day workshop was organized on 14 September 2015 to discuss with national authorities including workers’ and employers’ organizations the scope of ILO Convention no. 81 and identify where national laws and practice are currently in compliance and where improvements would be needed.

    Seminar on Climate Change: Issues, challenges and opportunities confronting the peasants and farmer communities of Sindh Province

    The ILO through the One-UN Livelihood Restoration Project has improved the resilience of 662 households by providing them training and tools to diversify their livelihoods. While the climate change induced vulnerabilities of the farmer communities are increasing, there are opportunities emanating from timely adaptation, preparation and mitigation measures, capitalizing on which the peasants and the farmer communities most of whom are women, can positively transform their lives.
