BANGKOK, Thailand (ILO News) - Thai and Cambodian authorities have made progress on the mutual recognition of skills for bricklaying and plastering skills between the two countries.

A Technical Assessment Report agreeing the standards was signed on 24 February 2023. This affirms that all skills certification components, including competency standards and assessments, on Bricklaying and Plastering (Level 1 Thailand and Level 2 Cambodia) are technically comparable.

The signing took place at the 4th Technical Workshop on the Comparability Assessment for Bricklaying and Plastering between Thailand and Cambodia held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 22-24 February 2023.

The workshop helped clarify proposed amendments to marking scheme methodology as well as the practical test in order to bring the assessment and certification standards between the two countries into line.

The Technical Assessment Report was signed by Mr Chatsada Chunural, the Director of Standard and Testing Development Office from the Department of Skill Development, Ministry of Labour in Thailand and Mr Teang Sak the Director of the Department of Standard and Curriculum from the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training in Cambodia.

ILO has been supporting the Mutual Recognition of Skills (MRS) in ASEAN through the long-term support of the ILO/Korea Partnership Programme.
