To observe the World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2022, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MoLSW), in collaboration with Lao Federation of Trade Union (LFTU), Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), and ILO through the ILO/Korea Partnership Programme, organized the first ever awareness and promotion event on 25 May 2022 in a hybrid format.

In the opening session, the importance of participation and cooperation of the Government, workers and employers in establishing and updating occupational safety and health (OSH) systems and standards, as well as the promotion of preventative safety and health culture was commonly emphasized by the high-level tripartite representatives. Furthermore, the willingness to strengthen the partnership for the continuous development of better working environment and positive workplace culture was expressed and committed.

In the panel discussion, following the technical presentations, participants learned about good practices from award-winning companies, in particular, what efforts were made to develop safety and health culture in the workplace and how social dialogue contributed to and facilitated the process. The panel concluded, calling for the engagement of and active cooperation with all stakeholders through tripartite plus social dialogue for wider dissemination and application of good OSH practices.
