Social Protection Signing an MoU between COMWEL and ITCILO Korea Workers’ Compensation & Welfare Service (COMWEL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) in Seoul, Republic of Korea on 30 October 2019. COMWEL is a public organisation entrusted by the Ministry of Employment and Labour, which has played a critical role in providing workers’ compensation insurance and various welfare services for workers and their families. As a training arm of the ILO, ITCILO provides capacity building and learning services in order to promote decent work and socio-economic development. Under the MoU, the two parties will cooperate in the following areas which are expected to contribute to the development in three areas below: Developing joint regional training activities to be held in Republic of Korea for Asian participants on social security development cooperation programmes focused on workers’ compensation insurance; Developing joint national tailor-made training activities in Asia and elsewhere; Mutual knowledge transferring between COMWEL and ITCILO The MoU established between two organisations are also expected to contribute to the ILO/Korea Partnership Programme that aims to enhance social protection in ASEAN.
