ILO’s Response to Syrian Influx in Turkey

Achievements

  • Capacity development needs of İŞKUR, Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Security and local government institutions have been identified and on-the-job training programmes have been organized by Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Security;
  • Technical support for implementation of legislation on work permits and a strategy paper on the implementation of the legislation on work permits has been prepared;
  • Local and Central Level Steering Committees in collaboration with Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Security, DGMM, Social Partners, Local Governments and UN Agencies have been established;
  • Assessments on child labour and the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis on the demand side of the labour market have been conducted;
  • Initiatives to integrate Syrian refugees and host community members into the labour market have been implemented;
  • A communication strategy has been developed and implemented;
  • 500 Syrian refugees and host community members and 50 public staff have been reached.
