Children of seasonal workers and hazelnut producers are attending classes together in Akçakoca Social Support Centre within the scope of “Integrated Model for the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture in Hazelnut Harvesting in Turkey Project.” Social Service experts are continuing to visit hazelnut fields and homes to register new children to social support centres.

School bell has rung for the first time in Hendek District of Sakarya Province, Çilimli and Akçakoca districts of Düzce in the West Black Sea Region for 2015 hazelnut harvest season within the scope of “Integrated Model for the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture in Hazelnut Harvesting in Turkey Project.”

Classrooms are set and students are registered at Uzunisa Social support centre. As the hazelnut harvest goes on with thousands of workers Teachers of “Integrated Model for the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture in Hazelnut Harvesting in Turkey Project.” payed a visit to head of Altınordu Chamber of Agriculture Uğur Cörüt to elaborate on combatting child labour in Ordu Province.

Information campaign has started

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality has started a province wide information campaign in coordination with “Integrated Model for the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture in Hazelnut Harvesting in Turkey Project.” Meanwhile children of worker families in the temporary settlement areas are calling their peers to the school at social support centre every morning.
