“The risks to global employment can only be addressed with human-centred approaches”

Speaking at the Quality Congress held fort he 31st time this year by the Turkish Quality Association (KalDer) with the theme “Beyond Risk: Justice in Science, Industry and Society”, ILO Türkiye Director Numan Özcan talked about the future of employment and how risks can be managed in the age of rapid transformations and uncertainities.

The Quality Congress, held in Kocaeli on 22-23 November, gathered more than 2,000 participants in 10 sessions over two days. At the congress, which was organized to evaluate the multifaceted risks faced by individuals, institutions and organizations and to create holistic solutions to address them, six prominent risks were discussed on energy, food, resources, technology, employment and migration.

Speaking at the session on “Employment: Employment of Five Billion”, ILO Türkiye Director Numan Özcan said “We must define strategies that are based on people and prioritize decent work, not only economic growth. We can only manage future risks with a holistic approach to deal with the economy together with social developments”.

While the moderator of the session was Borusan Group Human, Communication and Sustainability Group Chair Nursel Ölmez Ateş, the speakers Ford Otosan Deputy General Manager Human Resources and Transformation Director Başak Çalıkoğlu Akyol and Deloitte Türkiye Human Management Services Leader Cem Sezgin also discussed the importance of quality for managing employment and risk.
