DISK adopts Union Policy Paper in line with ILO’s Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (No. 190)

The Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions (DISK) adopted and put into effect on 15 November 2022 the “Policy Paper for Preventing Violence and Harassment in the World of Work” prepared in line with the International Labour Organization’ (ILO) Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (No. 190).

The Policy Paper was signed by Ms. Arzu Çerkezoğlu, President of DISK, at the Headquarters of DISK Genel-Is Union at Ankara, and shared with the public in the attendance of Ms. Ebru Özberk, Senior Programme Officer of ILO Office for Türkiye, and Ms. Canan Güllü, President of the Federation of Turkish Women Associations (TKDF).


Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ms. Çerkezoğlu said: “We recognize the violence and harassment suffered by women in all spheres of life, particularly in the world of work, as a violation of human rights, and commit to implementing this policy paper which we prepared to ensure a working environment free of all forms of violence and harassment including gender-based violence and harassment.”

“We, as DISK, are carrying out a campaign for the ratification of C190 to eradicate violence and harassment in the world of work, and reiterate our call for the ratification of the Convention.”
