Brand new social compliance booklets from ILO Office for Turkey and IKMIB
Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters' Union (IKMIB) and ILO Office for Turkey published social compliance booklets for the plastics, chemicals and chemical products sector.
The booklets containing basic information on social compliance audit standards have been produced jointly with IKMIB for firms participating in the international supply chains of the plastics, chemicals and chemical products sector.
These booklets are in the nature of guidelines on social compliance criteria, national labour law, occupational safety and health legislation, environmental law, work permits for foreigners and many other areas, and aim to inform the public and relevant organizations on these matters.
Social compliance is an indicator of how enterprises treat their employees and environment, and apply the concept of social responsibility within their organizations and in their areas of influence. Therefore, it is a critical part of social justice and decent work, two core goals of ILO. Social compliance criteria directly relate to national labour law, occupational safety and health legislation, environmental law, and social compliance standards of a brand.
These booklets are produced and provided to the general public under the project “Decent Work Opportunities for Refugees and Host Communities in Turkey” funded by the United States Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (USBPRM).
