This workshop was organized by ILO Regional Office for Arab States and ILO Cairo Office in close cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Egypt, “Tahya Misr” Initiative and Hope Village NGO; with the active participation of relevant ministries, NGOs, employers’ and workers’ organizations from Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt.

The workshop programme included indoor sessions and field visits on: the work and characteristics of working street children, challenges and opportunities, Egypt's National Plan for working street children administered by the Ministry of Social Solidarity and a component of the President El-Sisi's "Tahya Misr" national development initiative. In addition, participants learnt about the potential role and case studies of the private sector to tackle working street children.

One of the field visits was a rehearsal for working street children at the Egyptian Opera House orchestrated by the Maestro Saleem Sahhab as they were preparing for a Christmas Operate to be attended by national and international visitors.

This workshop was organized within the framework of ''Tackling Child Labour among Syrian Refugees and their Host Communities in Jordan and Lebanon" Danish-funded project, "Ending Worst Forms of Child Labour in Lebanon among Syrian Refugees and Lebanese Host Communities" Norwegian-funded project, and "Capacity of Egyptian Government, Workers' and Employers' Organizations Strengthened to Combat Child Labour" ILO-funded project.
