Implementing innovations in social protection

This programme will model innovations in social protection programming to inform the development, design, targeting, and management of nationally owned solutions for reducing poverty and vulnerability and building resilient livelihoods.

Objectives:
Reduction of poverty and vulnerability and building resilient livelihoods through modeling innovations in social protection programming to inform the development, design, targeting, and delivering.

Project Expected Outcomes
• Modeling community asset creation and rehabilitation;
• Modeling home-grown school feeding in the most vulnerable districts;
• Modeling child and gender-sensitive public works within the National Vision 2020 Umurenge Program (VUP) programme;
• Extending social protection coverage to all people through strengthened Community-Based Health Insurance; and
• Modeling of innovative social protection support for vulnerable children

Project Implementation
At the implementation level, the project collaborated with other relevant government institutions, which included:
• Ministry Of Local Government (MINALOC)
• Ministry Of Gender And Family Promotion In The Prime Minister’s Office (MIGEPROF),
• Ministry Of Health (MoH)
• Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI),
• Ministry Of Education (MINEDUC) and
• Ministry of Public Service and Labour (MIFOTRA)

Implementation strategy
The project is planned to build upon the UNs comparative advantage, specifically in the areas of:
• Global experience and model innovations in food assistance programming,
• Social protection, Child Protection and Early Childhood Development (ECD)

•Disadvantaged groups and people with special needs
