How to advance labour mobility in ECOWAS countries and Mauritania

Accueil-Emploi, a job matching network and online platform in West Africa, is being reviewed for effective management of migration and better mainstreaming labour migration into Labour Market Information Systems.

DAKAR/ADDIS ABABA (ILO News) – Heads of public employment services (PES), representatives of employers’ organizations and trade unions, and private recruitment agencies from ECOWAS Member States and Mauritania are meeting in Dakar, Senegal from 09-10 February to adopt an action plan for building capacity of institutions using Accueil-Emploi, an integrated database aimed at connecting job seekers with national and international employment offers.

The objective of the workshop is to better support job placement services and discuss more effective use of Accueil Emploi based on countries’ experiences. The meeting is organized by the ILO, in partnership with the ECOWAS Commission, and the Senegalese National Agency for Employment (ANPE) and Directorate for Employment.

Accueil‐Emploi, which is an online database for all job matching activities in the sub region, is expected to support public employment services. Effective PES can play a key role in implementing in addressing skill mismatches, enhancing labour mobility, and providing greater information on the job market to employers, workers and policymakers.

Facilitated by technical experts from the ILO, Pôle Emploi France, the IOM and ICMPD, the workshop is also intended to lay the groundwork for the establishment of a sub-regional job matching system and information portal.
