The power of small: disability employment in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) provide more than two thirds of jobs worldwide and account for the majority of new employment. There are an estimated 1.3 billion people with disabilities in the world, with most of them being in working age. However, persons with disabilities are unemployed at much higher rates than persons without disabilities. SMEs have the potential to offer employment to persons with disabilities.

The ILO Global Business and Disability Network's webinar on disability inclusion in SMEs will discuss the barriers SMEs may face when it comes to employing persons with disabilities, and how they can be supported to be more disability inclusive.

Further, the insights from the August 2023 ILO GBDN report “Disability inclusion in small and medium-sized enterprises: Analysis of a survey among National Business and Disability Networks” , which also provides recommendations on how to enable SMEs worldwide to become more inclusive of persons with disabilities, will be presented.

This free-of-charge 1-hour webinar will provide interpretation into International Sign and English live captioning.
