Introduction to Myanmar Labour Law 2020

This Introduction to Myanmar Labour Law guidebook has been developed for human resource practitioners, academics, students, employers, trade unions, and workers to provide accessible information on international labour standards ratified by Myanmar and how these are translated into national laws.

This guide contains introductory information about establishing employment contracts, collective bargaining, wages, dismissal, maternity and paternity leave, social security, establishing employer and worker organizations as well as resolving disputes. It also provides useful information on the respective International Labour Standards to promote and inspire good practices.

The legal framework referred to in this guide is up-to-date as of January 2021 and does not cover occupational safety and health laws or directives as these directives change frequently to manage and limit the spread of COVID-19 in workplaces
