Child labour

A practical guide for journalists

Fighting child labour and promoting children's rights in Fiji's media.

‘A practical guide for journalists: Fighting child labour and promoting children’s rights in Fiji’s media’ was developed jointly by ILO and UNICEF to encourage and support journalists to report on child labour and other child protection issues in a manner that is ethical, professional, and sensitive to the needs and rights of children while serving the public interest and to help journalists become better advocates for children’s rights.

The guide was developed in consultation with the Fijian Government, private sector, trade unions, journalists and CSO. The guide was piloted in April 2022 and examined and validated by journalists and key partners during a training workshop on the role of media in reporting on child protection and child labour in Fiji, held on 27 and 28 April 2022.
