The ILO’s SME unit, supported by McKinsey & Company, has published a comprehensive framework of policy options to support small firms in developing countries confront shocks. This wide-ranging report addresses head-on some of the key challenges that shocks pose to small firms in developing countries and outline a range of policy options that governments and other key stakeholders can use to support small firms overcome crises and building resilience.

The framework is anchored in numerous concrete examples of measures derived from previous shocks, including the COVID-19 pandemic. While recognizing there is no “one size fits all solution”, the report also details a comprehensive set of implementation considerations as a starting point for choosing and tailoring best-fit solutions.

The webinar is based on the findings of the report and addresses head-on some of the key challenges that shocks pose to small firms in developing countries and outline a range of policy options that can help support small firms during such conditions.
