Capacity-building workshop on TB and HIV/AIDS for education officers of Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education and Development

ILO, in collaboration with DTNBWED, a Ministry of Labour and Employment's training institution, organized a series of capacity-building workshops on TB and HIV for the institution’s education officers.

ILO, under its project, ‘Strengthening the World of Work Response to TB and HIV’, organized a series of workshops for the education officers of Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education and Development (DTNBWED), a Ministry of Labour and Employment's institution. The aim of these workshops was to mainstream TB and HIV/AIDS into DTNBWED’s training curriculum and to enhance the knowledge and skills of the education officers of the DTNBWED in addressing TB and HIV/AIDS through their training programmes.

Four workshops were organized in which the education officers from DTNBWED’s zonal offices – north, south, east, west and central – participated. The two-day residential workshops were held in New Delhi between May and November 2019. The series culminated with a two-day workshop for the zonal and regional officers of DTNBWED, held on 25 - 26 February 2020, at Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The dates of workshop were as follows.
  1. 28-29 May 2019 (Delhi)
  2. 1-2 Aug 2019 (Delhi)
  3. 10-11 Oct 2019 (Delhi)
  4. 14-15 Nov 2019 (Delhi)
  5. 25-26 Feb 2020 (Ahmedabad)
The workshops provided information on ‘TB and HIV/AIDS scenario in India and the national response’ and had informative sessions on ‘Basics of TB and HIV/AIDS’ and 'Combatting stigma and discrimination associated with TB and HIV/AIDS in the world of work', among others. Interactive sessions based on adult learning principles, which included discussions, presentations, role-play and group work, made the workshop an interesting exercise.
