Peer review of Youth Employment Policies and Programmes in Yerevan

On 5-6 October 2016 Yerevan, capital of Armenia, hosted the fifth round of Voluntary Peer Review of Youth Employment Policies and Programmes.

It was organized within the framework of the project “Partnerships for Youth Employment in the Commonwealth of Independent States” that is financially supported by the Russian oil company LUKOIL.

During the peer review experts from the Russian Federation assessed the youth employment policies and programmes of the Republic of Armenia. The participating countries shared knowledge, experience and good practices in the field of employment and labour market also with a view to the integration processes  currently on-going within  the Eurasian Union.

The Russian Federation was represented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Federal Service on Labour and Employment (ROSTRUD), regional employment services of  Khanty-Mansi autonomous region and Republic of Bashkortostan as well as Railway branch of the Russian Union of Employers and Entrepreneurs.

Tadevos Avetisyan, head of the Employment Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Issues of Armenia noted that the Armenian constituents were particularly interested to share expert knowledge in employment issues, with the focus on youth, as these issues are high on the national policy agenda.

The agenda included roundtable discussions with the participation of the ILO constituents and relevant stakeholders. On the side lines of the event, a training workshop on the labour market data collection and analysis for representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Issues of Armenia, State Employment Agency and Institute for Labour and Social Researches was conducted.

The ILO was represented by Mikhail Pouchkin, Chief Technical Adviser of the Youth Employment Project, and Julia Surina, Youth Employment Officer of this project.
