Uzbekistan imposes administrative penalty for using child labour in hazardous work

News | 04 November 2009
On November 4, Uzbekistan’s parliamentarians adopted a law on amendments to the Republic’s Code on Administrative Responsibility that envisions administrative penalty for the use of child labour in hazardous working conditions.

The draft law was developed to implement the National Action Plan to meet requirements of the ILO Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention and Minimum Age Convention ratified by Uzbekistan.

Parliamentarians stressed the importance of adopting the legal acts that impose responsibility on individual persons, including parents, for the use of child labour in hazardous conditions that can cause damage to health or safety of children. The draft law also strengthens responsibility of employers for violating the legislation on labour and labour safety in relation to children.
