ILO Exhibition at the Russian State Library.

One of the major events to mark the World day for Safety and Health at Work was the exhibition of the ILO publications on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) at the Russian State (Lenin) Library. It was opened on 28 April in the premises of the Library’s business center.

The opening ceremony was attended by Victor Fedorov, Director of the Lenin Library; Yuri Sorokin, Head of Department of Labour Conditions and Occupational Safety, Ministry of Labour; Vitaly Trumel, Chief Labour Inspector, Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia; Pauline Barrett-Reid, Director of the ILO Subregional Office; Dr. Mikko Vienonen, UN Resident Coordinator a.i.

All participants agreed in the opinion that the priority for improvement of working conditions is effective prevention of occupational accidents and diseases at all levels.

The Russian State Library is an active partner of the ILO Subregional Office. It has already hosted two ILO exhibitions – on HIV/AIDS and migration. The current exhibition will be open till 28 May; then the ILO publications will be passed as a contribution to the Lenin library.
