Testing Innovative Approaches: Voluntary Peer Review of Youth Employment Policies

The International Labour Organization (ILO) has successfully tested an innovative mechanism - voluntary peer reviews, in which countries assess one another’s youth employment policies and share good practices during joint meetings. It is one of the elements of the ILO project “Partnerships for Youth Employment in the CIS” financially supported by the Russian company LUKOIL. Voluntary Peer Review of Youth Employment Policies in the CIS and Georgia

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is implementing an innovative project intended to assist in the fight against youth unemployment in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Georgia. Voluntary peer reviews, in which countries assess one another’s youth employment policies and share good practices during joint meetings, have become one of the most successful innovative mechanisms to do so. With the fifth regional meeting of the youth employment network having recently taken place in Sochi, the third round of the peer review process was completed. The countries-participants of the project, entitled “Partnerships for Youth Employment in the CIS countries and Georgia” have met in Almaty, Turin, Saint Petersburg and Krasnoyarsk.

Assistant ILO Director-General addressed a High-Level International Conference on the theme “Policy of Neutrality: International Cooperation for Peace, Security and Development” held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Presidents and Prime Ministers of many countries, heads of international organizations and numerous representatives of foreign media have arrived in Ashgabat to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the country’s Permanent Neutrality.

Tajik remittances from Russia top 700m dollars in second quarter of 2011

In the second quarter of 2011 alone, 742m dollars was sent through money transfer from Russia to Tajikistan, the Central Bank of Russia has announced.
