Freedom of Association to the Working Youth (Extended version)

The ILO EU GSP+ Project asked a young working student on freedom of association. The project has contributed towards better understanding of the right to organize, freedom of association and collective bargaining.

Freedom of association and collective bargaining are fundamental labour and human rights. A working student shares her knowledge on freedom of association, including the importance of workers organizations and trade unions. Young people are future workers, emerging entrepreneurs and young employers. It is crucial for them to have a better understanding of the right to organize, freedom of association and collective bargaining based on the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise Convention, 1948 (No. 87) and the Right to Organise and Collective Bargaining Convention, 1949 (No. 98).

The ILO GSP+ Project funded by the European Commission DG Trade has contributed towards better application of freedom of association and right to collective bargaining in the Philippines to address challenges and concerns raised on violation of workers’ rights. Freedom of association and collective bargaining are fundamental labour and human rights.
