By Mr Khalid Hassan, Director, ILO Country Office for the Philippines at the 2023 International Women’s Day DigitALL Innovation and technology for gender equality, 8 March 2023, Manila, Philippines

Statement | Manila, Philippines | 08 March 2023
Women play a crucial role in the world of work. Yet, they face multiple challenges, including the caregiving burden and unpaid work. The COVID-19 pandemic has also worsened inequality.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is committed to a human-centered recovery based on social justice and decent work for all. We will prepare women for the future of work through innovation, digitalization and access to technology.
We will equip them through skills training and lifelong learning to unleash their full potential. We will continue to support women entrepreneurs through digitalization and access to online market.

We will work to end violence, particularly against women migrant workers, workers in the informal economy, rural women, and those who are most vulnerable and support the country in respecting International Labour Standards in law and in practice.

For girls and young people, we will promote quality education and training and assist our partners in protecting them from cybersex and online abuse, which the ILO considers to be among the worst forms of child labour.

We will seize the opportunity to advance social justice, promote decent work and create a brighter future of work for all - a future in which no one is left behind!
