  3. Araw ng Kasambahay (National Domestic Workers Day)

    This year's "Araw ng Kasambahay" carried the theme: "Kilalanin ang halaga ng mga kasambahay Batas Kasambahay, agad na ipasa!" (Recognize the value of domestic workers, Pass the domestic workers bill now!). It was marked by a national celebration in the National Capital Region (NCR) and simultaneous events in key cities like Batangas, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo and Davao. In the regions, there was a week-long celebration highlighted by media guestings, multisectoral dialogues, distribution of advocacy materials and provision of services to kasambahays.

  4. Infrastructure for rural productivity enhancement sector final report

    The ILO has been collaborating with the Department of Agriculture-Infrastructure for Rural Productivity Enhancement Sector (DA-InfRES) Project aimed to strengthen local capacity on rural infrastructure development. InfRES with funding support from the Asian Development Bank is designed to reduce poverty by improving agricultural profitability through provision of rural infrastructures such as farm-to-market road, water supply and communal irrigation, facilities for local government units in Region 4-B.

    The Embassy of Finland through its Local Cooperation Funds (LCF) agreed to support the ILO's three-year project covering Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, Mindanao. The project agreement was signed in April 2006. It was a continuation of the collaborative work to extend assistance to indigenous peoples (IPs) in the Philippines by the Embassy of Finland and the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2000.

    The Government of Japan and the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security confirm new funding of nearly 212 million yen to help returned victims of human trafficking in the Philippines and Thailand.

    This project aims to identify community where domestic workers are based. Initially, the Dagat-dagatan area, where the city of Caloocan and the municipalities Malabon and Navotas is the locality being eyed. It is an urban poor relocation area with 300,000 residents.
