The entrepreneurship training for disadvantaged youth is currently implemented in the four (4) pilot provinces: Masbate, Antique, Maguindanao and Agusan del Sur. It aims to promote entrepreneurship as a career option, a priority to address youth employment challenge. It employs the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB), the entrepreneurship training program of ILO.

Roundtable Discussion and Seminar-Workshop on the Improved Use of International Labour Standards in the Judiciary

The International labour standards (ILS) adopted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) are important tools for the development of national legislation. However, the contribution of international labour law is not limited to its impact on labour legislation. ILS can also contribute to strengthening domestic case law on labour matters. International labour law is a highly valuable resource for domestic judges and arbitrators seeking to settle labour disputes. Together with the comments and analysis of the relevant supervisory bodies, ILS offer a rich source of interpretation and inspiration for interpreting and complementing domestic laws.

Users Training on Child Labour Knowledge Sharing System (CLKSS) for the Provincial Child Labour Committees

The establishment of a multi-level functional system on child labour is one of the strategy directions under the Philippine Program Against Child Labor (PPACL) Strategic Framework for 2007-2015. The IPEC Programme, through its strategy on knowledge management, will build the capacities of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), National Child Labor Committee (NCLC), and other relevant government agencies and social partners has helped develop a system that would facilitate the utilization of data especially in support of national and local child labour policy development and programme design, implementation, and evaluation. This system is what we call the Child Labour Knowledge Sharing System (CLKSS).

The 2011 Asia Regional Conference on “Advocacy towards the Ratification and Implementation of ILO Convention 189 on Domestic Workers” brought together again domestic workers’ unions, trade unions, civil society groups and other social movements in the Asia region to serve as catalysts for national and regional initiatives towards the ratification of the Convention for domestic workers.

Maritime Industry Tripartite Council Plenary Meeting

On 17 October 2011, the Philippine Summit on the Maritime Labour Convention, (MLC) 2006 was conducted at the Associated Marine Officers' and Seamen's Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP) Convention Hall in Intramuros, Manila. International Labour Standards (NORMES) Director Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, ILO-Geneva discussed the overview and updates on Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), 2006 during the plenary which was attended by the social partners of the Philippine maritime industry.

National Indigenous Cultural Summit

The ILO supports the National Indigenous Cultural Summit, in partnership with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and the Senate Committee on Cultural Communities with Senator Loren Legarda as Chairperson. The summit will discuss results of regional assemblies on climate change and on ILO Convention 169. The summit will also feature a photo exhibit on development partnerships and cultures of indigenous peoples and an indigenous cultural presentation.

Direct Beneficiaries Monitoring and Reporting Training for Implementing Agencies
13 - 14 October 2011
To enable the selected implementing agencies to effectively and efficiently implement their action programmes with particular attention being paid to high quality data on the direct beneficiaries, the project team has requested support to organize a workshop on Direct Beneficiaries Monitoring and Reporting (DBMR) for its partners to prepare them for the action programme implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

Project Management Training for Implementing Agencies

At the end of the training, ILO's implementing agencies shall have: (a) deepened their understanding and know-how of ILO's financial and technical reporting requirements; (b) strengthened their planning and implementation skills in relation to their respective action programmes; (c) acquired project management techniques to help them facilitate implementation, monitoring, and control of their activities and work plans; and (d) prepared detailed individual agency work plans and a joint work plan with information on tasks, planned/actual start and finish dates, planned and actual work, etc.
