Events, meetings and trainings

The ILO Country Office for the Philippines organizes and takes part in a number of events and meetings. Below is a list of upcoming and past events. Any queries should be sent to the office by email.

  1. Run to Save Lives! Run for Breastfeeding!

    A public event organized by the Millennium Development Goal-Fund 2030 Joint Programme on Ensuring Food Security and Nutrition for Children 0-24 Months Old in the Philippines

  2. Review of the Strategic Convergence Support for the Formulation of the Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plans (ADSDPP) by the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in Bislig City and the Municipality of Sibagat, Agusan del Sur

    The convergence partners, including the International Labour Organization (ILO), German International Development Agency (GIZ) and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), are set to review their strategy and plans for the provision of support to the Indigenous Peoples IPs in Bislig City and Sibagat, Agusan del Sur in the community-driven participatory formulation of their respective Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plans (ADSDPP).

  3. ILO-IPEC consultant conducts field validations in Masbate

    31 January - 3 February 2012

    The Community-based Monitoring System (CBMS) Network conducted field validations on the initial assessment of development plans and processes by the Local Governments Units (LGUs) of Masbate City, Cawayan, and Aroroy in the province of Masbate on the eradication of child labour. This is part of the process of training LGUs on gathering data on child labour incidence and using these as inputs in local development plans so that child labour elimination can be targeted.

  4. ILO-IPEC Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing in Bukidnon Province

    The ILO-IPEC is now ready to provide direct services to child labourers and their families in Bukidnon Province in partnership with reliable agencies.

  5. Finalization of the Operational Guidelines of the Kayumbyahan Sago Manobo Corporation (KASAMACOR) in Veruela, Agusan del Sur

    28 January 2012

    The KASAMACOR Board of Directors meet to finalize the operational guidelines of the corporation based on pertinent initial operational experience and lessons generated. This forms part of the capacity-building process for the Board of Directors and staff of the Corporation.

  6. ILO-IPEC Consultant on Resource-mapping Visits Quezon Province

    25 - 27 January 2012

    The Strategic Development Cooperation - Asia (SDC) will continue to work on validating the subsectors initially selected as basis for livelihood activities and subject these to further value chain analysis.

  7. Empowering leaders in Local Economic Development (LED)

    23 - 27 January 2012

    The local government units (LGUs) played a pivotal role in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goal-Fund (MDG-F) Joint Programme on Alternatives to Migration: Decent Jobs for Filipino Youth in the four pilot provinces, namely Masbate, Antique, Agusan del Sur and Maguindanao.

  8. ILO-IPEC consultant conducts field validations in Northern Samar

    17 - 20 January 2012

    The Community-based Monitoring System (CBMS) Network will conduct field validations on the initial assessment of development plans and processes by the Local Governments Units (LGUs) of Catarman, Las Navas, Mondragon, and Lao-ang in Northern Samar Province on the eradication of child labour. This is part of the process of training LGUs on gathering data on child labour incidence and using these as inputs in local development plans so that child labour elimination can be targeted.

  9. Proposal Development Workshop for Bukidnon Press Club

    12 January 2012

    The Bukidnon Press Club (BPC) has expressed interest to be a partner in pursuing a grassroots communications campaign. To help them in developing the concept, a Project Development Seminar was conducted where they were oriented about the work of ILO, IPEC and the issue of child labour and about Results Based Management.

  10. Ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the establishment and launching of the DOLE-ILO knowledge corner

    12 January 2012

    On 12 January 2012, DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz and ILO Country Office Director Lawrence Jeff Johnson signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the establishment and launching of DOLE-ILO Knowledge Corner at Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Executive Building in Intramuros, Manila.

  11. Round Table Discussion on sharing of good practices on local-/community-level mechanisms to protect and promote the rights and welfare of migrant workers in Thailand and the Philippines

    11 January 2012

    A Round Table Discussion (RTD) to be participated in by middle- to senior-level labour officials and other project partners in Thailand and the Philippines will be held to build a better understanding of existing country policies and programmes and interventions on the the protections of the rights of migrant workers, and how these are implemented at sub-national levels.

This is part of the process of training LGUs on gathering data on child labour incidence and using these as inputs in local development plans so that child labour elimination can be targeted.

  1. SM Cinema and ILO partnership on decent work for domestic workers

    25 December 2011 - 7 February 2012

    The ILO Country Office for the Philippines in partnership with SM Cinema, the largest cinema exhibitor in the Philippines launched a public service message on “Domestic workers are workers with rights like others. Decent and productive work starts at home.” The 30-second message was first shown at the opening day of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2011 and will be played nationwide in 38 digital theatres of SM Cinema until the first week of February 2012.

  2. IPEC Team Year-end Assessment Meeting

    The IPEC team will hold a year-end meeting to assess its performance in 2011 and how to meet challenges in 2012.

  3. IPEC Team Holds 2011 Fourth Quarter Meeting

    13 - 16 December 2011

    The IPEC Team reviewed its overall performance for better project implementation in the provinces of Bukidnon, Masbate, Northern Samar and Quezon. The Team discussed the hindering factors, trouble-shot key areas and made adjustments on schedules versus delays in the accomplishment of deliverables. The Provincial Coordinators shared their best practices for replication in other areas. Updates on administrative and finance-related concerns were also discussed.

  4. MDG F champion and partners in solidarity series: "Champions and partners, solidarity and recognition night"

    The Millennium Development Goal Fund (MDG F) Joint Programme on Alternatives to Migration: Decent Work for Filipino Youth is one of the four joint programmes in the Philippines that will be participating in the Champion and Partners in Solidarity Series on 6 and 13 December 2011.

  5. Labour Market-Responsive Entrepreneurship Skills Training for Disadvantaged Youth in Maguindanao

    13 December 2011

    The entrepreneurship training for disadvantaged youth was implemented in the four pilot provinces in Masbate, Antique, Maguindanao and Agusan del Sur. It was aimed to promote entrepreneurship as a career option, a priority to address youth employment challenge. This will employ the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB), the entrepreneurship training programme of ILO.

  6. Thematic Year-end Reception, Media Recognition and UN Photo Exhibition Featuring Development Initiatives and Partnerships with Indigenous Peoples

    On 12 December 2011, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office for the Philippines organized a ‘Thematic Year-End Reception, Media Recognition and UN Photo Exhibition’ featuring development initiatives and partnerships with Indigenous Peoples. The event was held in the context of the implementation of the ILO’s Indigenous Peoples Development Programme (IPDP) which is based in the Caraga Region of northeastern Mindanao.

  7. Media Recognition on Indigenous Peoples

    12 December 2011

    “Pagkilala sa mga Natatanging Kuwentong Katutubo” (Recognition of Outstanding stories on Indigenous Peoples) recognizes the efforts of Filipino media practitioners who have been able to provide the audience with “real stories” that contribute to the advocacy on indigenous peoples’ rights. The ILO supports the media recognition, in partnership with Probe Media Foundation Inc. and the Philippine Press Institute, which aims to increase awareness on issues related to indigenous peoples.
