World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL) Philippines Celebration 2012

The Philippines will celebrate the World Day Against Child Labour on 26 June this year by presenting to the public the preliminary results of the 2011 Survey on Children done by the National Statistics Office (NSO). This comes 10 years after the last survey done in 2001 which revealed that there were 4.2 million working children, 2.4 million of which were into child labour because of their exposure to hazardous conditions. After the NSO presents the 2011 Survey, a national campaign dubbed “Batang Malaya: A Child Labour-Free Philippines” will be launched by the National Child Labor Committee. The President of the Philippines has been invited to the event as well as key partners in the fight to eliminate child labour in the country and around 100 child labourers. More than 300 participants are expected to attend the activity which will be held at Fun Ranch, a play area for children.
