Local Economic Development Summit in Agusan del Sur

The summit aims to integrate local economic development in the plans and programmes of Agusan del Sur. The summit is part of the MDG-F Joint Programme on Alternatives to Migration: Decent Work for Filipino Youth initiative, a programme designed to improve access to decent work for poor, young men and women, and to improve policy coherence and implementation in relation to young people, employment and migration, through greater participation.

Representatives from the government (national, regional, provincial and local units), employers’ and workers’ organizations, academic institutions, religious groups, youth and non-government organizations will participate in the Local Economic Development (LED) Summit of the MDG Fund Joint Programme on Alternatives to Migration: Decent Jobs for Filipino Youth.

Objectives:

  • To validate results of the assessment of the local economy of project sites with local partners and stakeholders including youth and migrant representatives
  • To provide options and recommendations for possible Public-Private Partnerships (PPP)
  • To formulate action plans for the implementation of LED initiatives
  • To generate interest and solicit support among key stakeholders to promote youth employment for local economic development

Expected Outputs:

  • Validated results of the assessment and recommendations of local partners and stakeholders incorporated in the final draft
  • Options and recommendations for possible Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) including best practices of PPP for adaptation, corporate social responsibility activities, gender-responsive programs and projects on youth employment, guide to assess local economy with focus on youth employment
  • Action Plans to implement LED initiatives
  • A network of stakeholders supporting the promotion of youth employment
