    SCREAM & MDGs - UN Sailing the Nile Project

    During the Sailing the Nile Campaign implemented by all UN agencies working in Egypt to promote the MDGs, the ILO Sub-Regional Office Cairo SCREAM project, in Cooperation with the National Council of Youth, organized a series of sessions with young people and children using the SCREAM education pack. The sessions were conducted in youth clubs and managed by trained facilitators.

    On June 14th 2008, the World Day Against Child Labour 2008 "Education, the right responce to child labour" took place in Saqqara, Egypt. Held at Fagnoon Art School, the event featured workshops on child rights, art, collage, pottery, and bread baking. 108 children and 138 youth participated in the workshops. Representatives from the ILO, NGOs, the Egyptian government, and the media attended.

    Children's Solidarity Event for the World Day Against Child Labour 2008, Switzerland

    In Geneva, the ILO marked the World Day Against Child Labour 2008 with a plenary session of the International Labour Conference and a children's solidarity event organised jointly with the Geneva based community organisation "Le respect, ça change la vie" and the City of Geneva in Place des Nations. 600 hundred school children from Geneva and neighbouring France gathered in front of the UN to ask all Member States to take action to end child labour.
