  6. Launch of the report: Marking progress against child labour

    A launch will be held in Bangkok focusing on the Asia-Pacific region, which hosts the largest number of child labourers. An ILO Specialist on Child Labour will present the new figures, trends and recommendations. It will be held on Monday 23 September, 16.00 hours at the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel, Studio R9, 5th Floor, 518/8 Ploenchit Road, Tel. 662.125.5000 (BTS: Chidlom station).

    Presentation of the ILO-Global Compact Child Labour Platform

    A special event during this week’s UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in New York will offer companies and other stakeholders the opportunity to learn more about the Child Labour Platform (CLP). The CLP - a joint initiative by the ILO, the International Trade Union Confederation, the International Organization of Employers and the UNGC - identifies obstacles to the implementation of ILO Conventions in supply chains and the surrounding communities, as well as solutions to these obstacles and ways to catalyse collective action. Benjamin Smith, the ILO-IPEC’s Senior Officer for Corporative Social Responsibility, explains why CLP’s tools are a winning solution for businesses, working families and communities to address child labour.

  8. Kick-out Child Labour! Lakas-sipa Para sa Batang Malaya Football Clinic

    About 200 child labourers will join a football clinic and score a goal against child labour at the McKinley Hill Fort Bonifacio Taguig City, Philippines on Tuesday, 17 September 2013. Teams from the clinic will compete in a tournament in October.

    'TACKLE', Tackling child labour through education, is a joint project of the European Commission and the ILO with the support of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP). Launched in 2008, TACKLE aims at fighting child labour in 12 countries. An end of project global workshop takes place in Brussels on 2 and 3 July 2013.

  19. ILO and Ministry of Labour hosts a delegation of Brasilian labour inspectors to share experiences in addressing child labour and forced labour and developing labour inspection systems for hard to reach sectors

    The ILO acknowledges that Brazil is well-suited to share its good practices with labour inspectorates around the world through interventions that reflect not only the enforcement of the laws, but also include innovative legal and technical solutions that also work as positive incentives for companies to comply with the laws. Experiences running this scheme as well as other initiatives in the area of child labour and how to organize inspections in hard to reach areas will be shared during the visit. The exchange is supported by the ILO-IPEC and TRIANGLE project working in the area of child labour, forced labour and migrant protection and welfare in Thailand.

  20. Provincial Stakeholder Workshop on Addressing Child Labour in the Shrimp and Seafood Processing Industry in Nakhon Si Thammarat

    ILO-IPEC together with its Provincial partners in Nakhon si Thammarat Province will organize a one day Project Stakeholder meetings to review progress made and plan for activities to address child labour in the provinces. These meetings are closely coordinated with Provincial Governor Office and chaired by representatives from Provincial Offices of the Department of Labour and involve both Provincial Government officials, trade union, private sector and civil society representatives.
