The ILO Country Office for Viet Nam operates a wide range of programmes and projects. Details of each programme and project can be found below.

2016

  1. Applying the G20 Training Strategy

    1 December 2012 - 31 May 2016

    The project is a response to interest indicated by the Russian Federation to work with the ILO in supporting the application of the G20 Training Strategy to the skills development and employment needs in a range of countries.

  2. Promoting The Rights and Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities – Employment through Legislation (PROPEL) - Phase II

    1 January 2014 - 31 March 2016

    PROPEL’s overall development objective is “Better work and employment opportunities created for men and women with disabilities, through the creation of an enabling legal and policy environment, the promotion of skills development opportunities and measures to eliminate discrimination”.

  3. Supplementation to the Occupational Safety and Health project in Hazardous Work in Viet Nam

    1 April 2015 - 31 March 2016

    This supplementation project aims to build on the outcomes of the previous phase, promote effective consultation and provide the Government with improved recommendations on policies and regulations on occupational safety and health under the Law on Occupational Safety and Health.

  1. Strengthening the role of Disabled People's Organisations to advance disability rights in Vietnam

    1 April 2013 - 31 December 2015

    The project aim to strengthen the capacities and role of Disabled People's Organizations in order to promote the rights of Persons with Disabilities.

  2. Developing Design Parameters and Implementation Modalities of a Public Employment Policy for Unemployed and Underemployed People in Viet Nam

    1 January 2014 - 31 October 2015

    This is an extension of project “Enhancing income security measures and employability programmes for the unemployed and vulnerable workers in Viet Nam”

  3. Enhancing employment policies, economic stabilization and restructuring for an inclusive, effective and sustainable growth model for Viet Nam

    1 June 2013 - 31 August 2015

    The key goal of the project is to ensure macroeconomy policies are connected with each other and promote decent work. The project will provide technical assistance to identify priorities within its timeframe on the consultation and capacity strengthening for research units and policy planners.

  4. Strengthening the Capacities of Tripartite Constituents to Address Labour Issues in the Framework of the Better Work Viet Nam Programme

    1 April 2013 - 30 June 2015

    Better Work Viet Nam's overall development objective is to contribute to improving the lives of thousands of workers and their families and to increase the competitiveness of the Vietnamese garment industry

  5. Tripartite Action to Protect Migrants from Labour Exploitation (GMS TRIANGLE I)

    1 July 2010 - 29 May 2015

    Tripartite Action to Protect Migrants within and from the Greater Mekong Sub-region from Labour Exploitation (GMS TRIANGLE I) aims to significantly reduce the exploitation of labour migrants through increased legal and safe migration and improved labour protection.

  1. Occupational Safety and Health in Hazardous Work in Southeast Asia

    1 January 2012 - 31 December 2014

    The project aims to address occupational safety and health (OSH) in hazardous industries in Viet Nam and Cambodia, strengthen national OSH systems in line with the on-going national OSH programmes, and improve OSH standards at workplace level.

  2. Forced Labour Action in the Asian Region Project (FLARE) - Phase 1

    2 January 2012 - 31 December 2014

    The project strengthens action against forced labour in the East and South-East Asia, building on the emerging political consensus that forced labour should not be tolerated either in the private economy and global supply chains, or in its more traditional state-imposed forms.

  3. Occupational Safety and Health in Hazardous Work in Viet Nam

    1 January 2012 - 31 December 2014

    This project aims to address occupational safety and health (OSH) in hazardous industries in Viet Nam, strengthen national OSH systems in line with the on-going national OSH programmes, and improve OSH standards at workplace level.

  4. ASEAN-ILO/Japan Industrial Relations Project

    28 October 2008 - 31 December 2014

    Implemented jointly by the ASEAN Secretariat and the ILO, this project aims to improve industrial relations in the ASEAN countries.

  5. Promoting Decent Work Across Borders: A Project for Migrant Health Professionals and Skilled Workers

    1 February 2011 - 30 November 2014

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), with funding support from the European Union (EU), implements a programme called Promoting Decent Work Across Borders: A Project for Migrant Health Professionals and Skilled Workers.

  6. Awareness raising to support the effective implementation of workplace sexual harassment provisions in the Labour Code.

    This project aim to promote gender equality and decent work opportunities in safe and dignified working environments

  1. Strengthening of Inland Tourism in Quang Nam

    1 March 2011 - 31 December 2013

    The project will develop a replicable and sustainable approach that contributes to gender sensitive pro-poor and pro-jobs tourism development in Vietnam. The emphasis will be on young men and women, but not excluding other groups. The approach will be developed and tested in Quang Nam Province.

  2. Project of Support to the National Time-Bound Programme on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour (WFCL)

    1 January 2009 - 7 December 2013

    This project contributes to the prevention and progressive elimination of child labour in Viet Nam through supporting the national time bound programme on elimination of the worst forms of child labour.

  1. Joint Programme on Gender Equality

    1 January 2009 - 31 December 2012

    This project is funded by the Spanish Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund and works to improve the capacity of relevant national and provincial authorities and institutions in the area of gender equality.

  1. Promoting Women’s Entrepreneurship Development and Gender Equality (WEDGE)

    1 January 2008 - 31 December 2011

    Contributes to the creation of greater opportunities for low-income women and their families to secure decent employment and income through women’s enterprise development.

  2. Youth Employment through Local Economic Development in Quang Nam Province

    1 January 2010 - 31 December 2011

    The objective of this project is to improve the employability and employment opportunities for young women and men by upgrading skills and improving job opportunities in through enhanced business enabling environment, business development services and overall market access in Quang Nam.

  3. Promoting the Employability and Employment of People with Disabilities through Effective Legislation (PEPDEL); and Promoting Decent Work for People with Disabilities through a Disability Inclusion Support Service (INCLUDE)

    1 January 2008 - 31 December 2011

    Works to create greater opportunities for women and men, including people with disabilities, to secure decent work and income.
