Workshop on Initiatives and Models of Sustainable and Responsible Tourism in the Central Viet Nam
Being one of the most active tourism development regions of Viet Nam, the Central is regarded as tourism hubs with millions of tourists annually spending their experiences in Culture World Heritage and beautiful beaches. In order to promote tourism development in sustainable and responsible manner, all the relevant stakeholders in tourism value chain needs to understand the principles of sustainable development and know about good practices and models that can inspire them with initiatives and good ideas in their daily jobs.
Background
Together with provincial initiatives in Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam on tourism development, this “Sustainable Tourism in Emerging Destinations” (ST) project demonstrates the joint-efforts of the ILO, UNESCO, and the Vietnamese government to bridge the development gaps between the tourism hubs and the rural interior areas. The project is developing a sustainable tourism development approach that embraces the ILO standards, contributes to gender sensitive, pro-poor and pro-employment tourism development in Vietnam.In order to sensitize public and private partners on responsible and sustainable tourism and inspire them of initiatives and models that work in the industry, the workshop focuses on initiatives and models that benefit the local communities and create ‘win-win situation’ with businesses. This workshop also aims at enhancing the key concept of the project on responsibility and sustainability among tourism-related businesses in the Central of Viet Nam.
Objectives
- To introduce, share the initiatives and models on responsible and sustainable tourism in the Central Viet Nam
- To create a forum for tourism management governmental officers, businesses and experts to exchange experiences, initiatives, recommendations and solutions in order to develop tourism products in a sustainable and responsible manner
