Events and meetings

The ILO Country Office for Viet Nam organizes and takes part in a number of events and meetings. Below is a list of upcoming and past events. Any queries should be sent to the office by email.

October 2015

  1. Training on Improving Business Skill and Vocational Orientation for Invalid People in Cooperatives in Cao Bang Province

    14 October 2015

    This training is disseminated at the commune level for different groups of disabled people and entrepreneurs in cooperative sectors to set up and develop their existing business.

  2. Capacity Building for Cooperatives, Small and Micro Businesses in Quang Nam Province in Applying ILO’s SBC Training Manuals on Home-stay, Handicraft and Restaurant

    6 - 22 October 2015

    This ILO-produced training package has been piloted in some ASEAN countries. In April 2015, the package was introduced to stakeholders in Viet Nam in a workshop jointly organized by ILO tourism-related projects and Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT)

  3. Workshop on Sharing Experiences in Teaching and Researching Law on Persons with Disabilities among Law Schools

    5 October 2015

    This workshop is aim to contribute to experiencing on teaching and learning related disability subjects and expressed desires to expand the subject on disability law among law universities and faculties to improve and enhance knowledge of future lawyers and judges on the rights of persons with disabilities.

  4. Launching of Triem Tay – an Authentic Vietnamese Village as a CBT Cooperative, a Model of National Targetted Programe of New Rural Development

    1 October 2015

    Triem Tay- a very peaceful but poor village faced with land erosion was revitalized with tourism development. The development in Triem Tay is not only for poverty reduction of local people who wanted to leave their land due to the land losses but also a model for climate change mitigation and poverty reduction of provincial and national level. Green solutions for protecting land from the water erosion were applied with a strong support from the government both in policies and finance. Tourism development in Triem Tay is the result of a high motivation from local people, immense support of the government and technical assistance of the ILO and UNESCO.

  1. Workshop on Initiatives and Models of Sustainable and Responsible Tourism in the Central Viet Nam

    Being one of the most active tourism development regions of Viet Nam, the Central is regarded as tourism hubs with millions of tourists annually spending their experiences in Culture World Heritage and beautiful beaches. In order to promote tourism development in sustainable and responsible manner, all the relevant stakeholders in tourism value chain needs to understand the principles of sustainable development and know about good practices and models that can inspire them with initiatives and good ideas in their daily jobs.

  2. Disability Equality Training for Facilitators

    Disability equality training (DET) is a dynamic, focused, highly participatory groupwork approach to changing attitudes and practices towards the greater inclusion of people with disabilities in mainstream employment, services and activities.

  3. Training on Improving Business Skill and Vocational Orientation for Invalid People in Cooperatives in Hanoi

    22 - 23 September 2015

    This training is aim to improve provide facilitation tools on community – based enterprise development (CBED) for 15 core entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs with disabilities members of Viet Nam Cooperative Alliance (VCA) and DPOs.

  4. IR Master Plan Launching Workshop in Hai Phong

    15 September 2015

    With the support of the Vietnam-ILO Industrial Relations Project, the Center for Industrial Relations (CIRD) has been assisting in working with tripartite partners in Haiphong to develop the master plan for IR development in the province, which has been adopted by Haiphong City People’s Committee on 16th June 2015.

  5. National Consultation Workshop on the Draft National Programme on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in period of 2016-2020

    10 September 2015

    The main objective of the workshop is to contribute to the finalization of the OSH Programme 2016-2020 through facilitating the collection of comments and inputs from tripartite constituents to the draft of the Programme as well as providing ILO’s technical comments and inputs to improve the draft.

  6. Workshop in Southern Viet Nam on international experience in establishing labour dispute settlement mechanism and consulting on labour court proceedings provisions in the draft bill of Civil Proceedings Code (Revised), Ho Chi Minh city – 10 Sept 2015

  1. National Policy Dialogue to Promote Disability Inclusion in Nha Trang

    26 August 2015

    This policy dialogues has contributed in awareness raising for enterprises on job needs and capacities of persons with disabilities and obstacles they may face in the world of work and how enterprises make changes to ensure equal opportunities and access at workplace for persons with disabilities as well as related laws and policies in supporting employment labours with disabilities.

  2. Meetings of National Wage Council

    25 August 2015

    National Wage Council (NWC) in Vietnam were established in August 2013 on the basis of the revised Labour Code. The NWC has the mandate to deliberate on and produce recommendation on minimum wage adjustment for the Government’s consideration and decision. Clause 2, Article 91 of the revised Labour Code states: “Based on the minimum living needs of the employee and his/her family, social and economic conditions, and wage levels in the labour market, the Government shall announce the regional minimum wage on the basis of the recommendation of the National Wage Council”.

  3. Consultation Workshop on Draft Report on Review Implementation of the Law 72

    20 - 21 August 2015

    A targeted consultation workshop to commence broader stakeholder discussions on the Law review is held in Viet Nam on 20-21 August 2015.

  4. Workshop on improvement of the National Action Plan for Elimination of Asbestos related disease in Hanoi

    12 August 2015

    The main objective of the workshop is to contribute to finalization of the National Action Plan for elimination of asbestos related diseases in Viet Nam through collecting comments and/or inputs from key partners and other relevant stakeholders to improve the draft of the Action Plan.

  5. Training courses for teachers from schools in Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam on Front Office Operations, Food and Beverage Services and Food Preparation

    4 - 31 August 2015

    One of the main reasons for the lack of skills from school graduates is that the teachers themselves do not have sufficient practical skills to train their students. In order to improve teaching quality for vocational schools in Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam, in cooperation with Hue Tourism Vocational College, training courses on upgrading teachining skills in Front Office Operations, Food and Beverage Services and Food Preparation are organized with participation of local teachers in the two provinces

  1. Workshop to Roll-out the Migrant Worker Resource Center (MRC) Operation Manual to Employment Service Centers (ESC) for the Northen Provinces in Viet Nam

    With the aim of replication the MRCs module and introducing MRC Operations Manual, the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs with the support from the GMS TRIANGLE project and World Vision organize a series of workshops to roll-out the MRCs for all ESCs in Viet Nam. Three workshops are organized in the north, the central and the south of Viet Nam to involve participants from Department of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs and ESCs of all 63 provinces throughout Viet Nam.

  2. Consultation Workshop and Launching Ceremony on Ticketing/Fee System for Thanh Toan Village and its Community Museum

    29 July - 14 November 2015

    Ticketing/fee system for Thanh Toan village as a compensation for tourism activities was discussed since 2014 when the ILO and UNESCO started our technical support for the commune. However, how to develop a ticketing/feed system proposal for a village? Which should governmental agencies take charge and which can approve? Which does governmental policy papers regulate? To answer this question, a Taskforce involving different stakeholders both from private and public sector was established with the technical support from the ILO and UNESCO. A series of activities was carried out until a consultation workshop organised in July 2015 and after the proposal is approved, a launch ceremony was organised with the open of Thanh Toan Community Museum.

  3. Training Workshop on The Code of Conduct on Sexual Harassment in Tourism Sector

    As tourism has been identified as a high-risk industry for sexual harassment in the workplace due to its characteristics, tourism businesses could be the leading employers in applying the Code of Conduct developed with technical assistance from the ILO for their own benefits as well as protecting the rights of workers.

  1. Capacity Building Workshop for Officials from Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam Provinces on Collection and Analysis of Social-Economics Data

    2 - 12 June 2015

    Skills on data collection and analysis play a crucial role for provinces in planning and forecasting, which will in return result in well-informed regulations and policies for solid and sustainable development of the tourism sector.

  1. Career Orientation Day - Job Opportunities in Tourism Sector for Students in Quang Nam and Da Nang

    29 May 2015 - 31 May 2016

    This provides an opportunity for tourism businesses and schools to collaborate in providing employment services to students, an area that will be further supported by the project in the near future.
