HANOI (ILO News) – In the wake of the second wave of coronavirus in Viet Nam, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control is stepping up the implementation of its guidelines for workplaces and workers’ dormitories nationwide to protect workers and their families’ health, prevent the spread of the virus and ensure business continuity.

The “Guidelines for prevention, control and assessment of COVID-19 infection risk for employees in the workplace and dormitory”, known as Decision 2194/QĐ-BCĐQG, was issued in May with technical support from the World Health Organization and the International Labour Organization in Viet Nam and key national partners.

The decision includes two parts – guidelines on COVID-19 prevention and control for workers and guidelines on assessment of infection risk in production and business establishments.

“Now that the COVID-19 outbreak has been reported at several factories in major industrial zones based in Da Nang, we believe that the guidelines can help businesses and workers in preventing the spread of the virus at the workplace, and therefore contribute to the protection of workers’ health and continuity of businesses in this difficult time,” said ILO Viet Nam Director, Chang-Hee Lee.
