One UN funded project in Quang Nam receives provincial awards

The International Labour Organization (ILO) under One UN Viet Nam was chosen by the Provincial Peoples Committee to receive two awards for contribution to the socio-economic development of the Quang Nam province in 2010.

The Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) of Quang Nam recently acknowledged the efforts put in by the International Labour Organization (ILO) under One UN Viet Nam and its project partners in creating better job opportunities and enhance employability of young people in the province. The One UN funded project ‘Youth Employment through Local Economic Development in Quang Nam’ executed by the ILO was only launched in the beginning of 2010. Yet it was chosen by the Provincial Peoples Committee to receive two awards for contribution to the socio-economic development of the Quang Nam province in 2010.

On 16 December 2010, the awards were given at the annual information meeting for foreign investors and international development organisations, where the chairman of PPC Mr Lê Phước Thanh was warmly thanking the many organisations for their contributions to the development in Quang Nam during 2010. The awards were presented at the meeting was not only for the project but also for its Chief Technical Advisor. Ms Mimi Groenbech. “Our project is a strong partner-led project and we are grateful for the Peoples Committee’s recognition of the efforts put into this by the projects many partners, including local departments and organisations, enterprises as well as by the the project’s team,” says Ms Mimi Groenbech.

It is the hope of the project that the recognition will inspire everyone involved in the project to continue their dedicated work – and that the project will be successful in its endeavours to improve the employability and employment opportunities for young people by upgrading vocational and entrepreneurial skills while at the same time improving job opportunities through enhanced business enabling environment, business development services and overall market access.
