Labour and Employment Media Award worth $5,000 now opens for entries

Journalists can now submit your works to compete for Viet Nam’s Labour and Employment Media Award until 5 February.

HANOI (ILO News) – The second Labour and Employment Media Award has officially opened for outstanding journalistic works which were published or broadcast between 1 January and 31 December 2014.

Organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Vietnam Journalists Association through the Vietnam Journalists Training Centre, the award aims to recognize journalists who made important contribution in the area of labour and employment in Viet Nam.

Prizes in cash with total value of VND100 million (about $4,800) and certificates will be given to journalists with the most outstanding stories in the following three categories:

01 First Prize for best entry on labour and employment will receive VND40 million.
01 Special Prize on “Journalists and Law” for best entry on compliance with the labour laws will receive VND30 million.
01 Special Prize on “Youth employment in key industries” (such as tourism) will receive VND30 million.

The first Labour and Employment Media Awards were given to Le Thi Van of the Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper and Vu Le Trang of VTV4.

Professional or non-professional journalists and contributors of the media agencies are welcome to submit their works to compete for the second Labour and Employment Media Award. Each group entry can include at most 5 authors. Each journalist or group of journalists can only submit a maximum of 3 entries for each category.

You entries can include reflection, interviews, commentary, feature, investigation, journalistic notes, and broadcast stories and programmes.

Each entry could be an article or a series (not longer than 3 parts) by the same author or group of author on the same topic in the same type of journalism. Collection of independent stories by different authors published or broadcast in different time slots will not be considered.

All entries must be submitted by 5 February as the latest.

Submission guide:

Entries should be submitted by email with full name, pen name, current position, current employer, mobile number:

- For print: PDF file or link to the work is required
- For broadcast: Youtube or similar links to the story or VCD/DVD with the author’s name, genre and broadcast time should be sent to the address of Vietnam Journalists Training Centre.
- Entries could be submitted in Vietnamese or any other language with Vietnamese translation and attached certification of translation accuracy.
- Those entries not eligible are those that do not meet the aforementioned requirements.
