Social consequences of migration in Tajikistan

The overall goal of the project is to improve the living and working conditions of migrant’s families in a pilot region of Tajikistan by creating decent employment and stimulating economic activity. The project is following the participatory and process-oriented Local Economic Development (LED) approach to local development, by involving families and all relevant public and private actors, in a comprehensive and consensus-seeking process for defining the project strategy. The aim is to identify key economic activities that can be stimulated as well as the related capacity-building needs, in order to support the creation of quality and sustainable employment for the families in this region. Planning, capacity building and training efforts are closely linked to the resources and investments available also through Programmes of microfinance to the vulnerable categories of population implemented through the employment service, in order to ensure maximum impact of the resources made available through the government.
